KAVEMAN TRAVELERS, STATE CHAPTER OF THE YEAR 2007 We, Kaveman Travelers are proud and honored to accept the recognition as Chapter of the Year for 2007. The Kaveman Traveler’s Chapter was chartered in 1986 with people from the Kuna, Idaho area. However, our membership now includes individuals from Boise, Emmett, Kuna, Meridian and Nampa. We have a limit of 25 active memberships. At present, we also have six honorary memberships that continue to participate in chapter activities. As of May 2008 we have two spots available and hope to fill them soon. Three of our members are of the State Staff. In addition t the three State functions our chapter has seven campouts a year, beginning in April and ending in October. Our Wagonmaster schedules some of these campouts in locations that have cabins or motels so that members who are unable to camp can still join us on our outings. We have meetings at our annual ice-cream social, Thanksgiving Dinner, Christmas Party and Valentine’s Dinner. At least three of the monthly meetings are at campouts with the remaining held at the Methodist Church in Kuna, ID. Our community service committee planned at least two service projects a month. Some of these projects were National Cleanup, Dogs For The Deaf, Ronald McDonald House, and books to US military in Iraq and Afghanistan. We baked bars and cookies and brought them along with donated clothing, books and games to the State Veteran’s Home. We made numerous trips to a local Women’s Crisis Center with donated items. All proceeds from our yard sale were used to purchase items for the Discovery House and Hayes Shelter which are part of Idaho Youth Ranch, for the Christian Children’s Ranch and for the family we adopted for Christmas. We met some wonderful, caring people as we did our service projects and found community service to be a very rewarding experience. We already have a good start on community service projects for the year 2008. |
